Hi! I’m Sonia Roach, the owner, operator and creative force behind SugarBugBakery. If you’re reading this, you’re either a customer, vendor or maybe you’re just plain curious about my craft. Either way, I welcome you into my (sweet) world! SugarBugBakery is a passion project-turned-business based in the Indianapolis area. Before taking the leap into baking full-time, I was self-taught and enjoyed making treats for my sons’ sports teams and other special events throughout the years. People in my community raved about my creations, but I was never in the position to pursue baking more than as a hobby.

Until 2021, That was the year I decided to follow my heart and trust in God, following a series of fortunate events. One standout moment was when I provided desserts at a friend’s surprise 40th birthday party. A gentleman who worked for a local sports club loved my creations so much that he asked me for a business card (that I didn’t have at the time.) It turns out he wanted to feature my desserts on an aircraft. That business relationship did come to fruition, and it was the boost I needed to press on. Today, I’m busy baking up a storm from scratch for individuals and a growing list of high-profile and corporate accounts including HGTV’s Two Chicks and a Hammer, Eric Church, Fall Out Boy, Jelly Roll and The Rolling Stones. My gourmet chocolate chip cookie is a top seller, though I bring the same brand of enthusiasm to every order. It’s pure joy to see the way someone’s face lights up upon trying my sweets for the first time. All of this would not be possible without the support of my friends and family. Jeff, my high school sweetheart/husband of 40+ years and two sons, Ty (Kate) and Levi are my “whys.” They’ve all challenged me to dream big. I am completely open to God’s plan for my future and I’m blessed beyond measure and grateful for everyone’s support. All of this to say: I’m proud to share my love of baking with the world and I invite you to catch the bug, one bite at a time. Whether it’s a special occasion or just celebrating being alive, my cookies and my cakes (the three-layer kind like Grandma used to bake) will make any day extraordinary. I’m confident you’re going to fall in love with me and my confections.
